Dr. Nuthalapati holds a doctoral degree in Veterinary Medical Sciences from Mississippi State University. His doctoral thesis was on Transcriptomic analysis of early B-cell development in chicken embryos. During his time as a Research Associate at Mississippi State University, he worked on Pre-and/or Post-harvest food safety, with emphasis on elucidating mechanisms associated with pathogens like Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Campylobacter. He also worked at Boston Children’s Hospital as a Research Assistant to investigate the physiological role of brain-expressed melanocortin 2 receptor accessory protein 2 (MRAP2). He was a Research Assistant at University of Pittsburgh, where he was involved in a project to determine the generation of Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine induced Th1-cell immune response and subsequent protection against Mycobacterium tuberculosis challenge is IL-23/IL17 dependent because of which he got experience working in ABSL-3 facility. His overall expertise includes molecular biology, microbiology, and immunology, as well as animal model. He joined The Kumar Lab in June 2021, and he will be working on acute kidney injury (AKI) and diabetes.
